Using data to help more in need

 

Charities are great at understanding their mission, giving a voice to those who need it, and providing life-changing care. Variety's goal is clear: enable children to thrive in Aotearoa New Zealand.  They know how tough it can be for many children and families living without adequate access to health, education, and wellbeing services.  Right now, 3,000 Kiwi kids are on their waitlist for support.

To reach more kids across New Zealand, Variety wanted to better understand their donors and free up their staff from time-consuming tasks, so they could focus on what they love - supporting children and driving the charity's mission forward.  That's where Datamine came in.  With expertise in marketing automation and data-driven decision-making, Variety and Datamine can now use existing data to help more kids than ever before.

Variety is dedicated to making a meaningful impact on the lives of children and young people in New Zealand, and it was an honour to explore how we could support them in overcoming their system and data challenges.  Through a workshop, we aimed to understand not only the technical issues at play but also how these improvements could help Variety further fulfil their vision of enabling children to thrive.

At Datamine, we strive to remove the guesswork and use data to create meaningful decisions, through our workshop we were able to truly understand what would allow Variety to grow sustainably and reach more children needing their help.

Data accuracy: Accurate data is the foundation for sustainable growth, supporting efficient reporting, reducing manual work, and enabling effective budgeting – all essential for Variety’s core charity functions.

 

 

Customer Analytics

Donor insights: Understanding donor behaviour through donor data is essential for personalised marketing and meaningful appreciation.  Knowing what data is available allows Variety to better engage donors, drive donations, and foster stronger, long-term relationships

 

 

Segmentation

Operational efficiency and team empowerment: Improving systems will not only streamline operations but also empower the amazing team to focus on work they love, rather than manual tasks.  This will boost job satisfaction and productivity, enabling the team to contribute more effectively to Variety’s mission and long-term sustainability

 

 Variety empowers caregivers by giving them more control over how funds are used to Support their children providing access to vital essentials, such as uniform and bedding, that they would otherwise go without

 

How Datamine can support sustainable growth

 

Discussions helped uncover key areas where we can add value, particularly in addressing the disjoint between their CRM and financial systems making it easier for Variety to optimise their data.  This alignment will allow for better reporting, more accurate tracking of sponsorships, and ultimately, more efficient support for the children Variety serves.

The focus on family choice, tackling health, education, and wellbeing challenges, and making meaningful sponsor connections is at the core of our partnership.  

Together, we established a clear path toward exploring and implementing solutions that will align with Variety’s long-term goals and ensure they can continue making a positive difference in the lives of Kiwi kids.
