UI/UX Designer

Product Team

Datamine is looking for a UI/UX Designer to help turn our analytics software into best-of-class products for customers and clients.

As our UI/UX Designer, you will be responsible for thinking through the best possible user experience for our end users and communicating it to our development team - your role is pivotal in ensuring adoption of our products, and ultimately the continued growth of our product range and customer base. 

UI/UX Designer responsibilities include working with project and product teams and contributing interface designs for new software products to our developers. If you understand what makes great user experiences in the world of data, you have experience with design, wireframe and prototyping software, and you’ve designed for successful web/mobile applications, we’d like to meet you.


UI/UX Designer duties and responsibilities are:

  • Gathering and evaluating user requirements for technically advanced software products, in collaboration with the product team
  • Combining creativity and exploring new territory with the constraints of a project brief and budget
  • Concepting out how key application functions should be best executed and communicating this to others
  • Illustrating ideas using storyboards, mock-ups, process flows and site maps that clearly illustrate what site functionality should look and feel like
  • Designing page layout, form elements, navigational structures and transitions
  • Designing new user onboarding and tutorial workflows within products
  • Making technically challenging steps easy to follow and perform for a user
  • Advise on how messaging, language, and visualisation of data should be part of the user experience within applications
  • Testing early product releases for intuitiveness, usability and performance and providing feedback to the project team
  • Communicating with users to understand their business goals and objectives
  • Developing technical / business requirements and always striving to deliver user-centered solutions
  • Conducting ongoing research


UI/UX Designer requirements and qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience as a Software UI/UX Designer or similar role
  • Comprehensive UI design portfolio
  • Excellent time management skills -  you understand the importance of a deadline
  • Tertiary degree in UX, design, comp sci or relevant field
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to discuss and explain design options
  • Detail-oriented
  • Highly collaborative
  • Critical thinker
  • Customer-centric problem solver
